Causes of prostatitis in men: symptoms and treatment of different forms

doctor's appointment for prostate

Inflammation of the prostate gland is the most common disease in men over 40 years old, second only in rare cases to cardiac pathologies.When a person is diagnosed, a natural question arises - where exactly did this disease come from?

The causes of prostatitis in men are many;it is almost impossible to name exactly what influenced the development of pathology in a particular patient.However, some factors, such as bad lifestyle and alcohol abuse, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.

Another feature of the disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can immediately provoke pathology, while others affect a man's body for years and only after 40-45 years are they detected by the first stage of prostatitis.

In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or bacterial (independent of the presence of infection).

Causes of bacterial prostatitis

It is not only the development of infections that leads to the appearance of the disease.The onset of pathology can also be caused by:

  1. incorrect structure of the prostate gland, which leads to compression of the prostate;
  2. deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
  3. decreased testosterone levels;
  4. constant perineal injuries and too intense physical activity, which lead to muscle strain;
  5. unstable sex life, as well as interrupted sexual relations;
  6. too much sexual activity, due to which the body does not recover properly;
  7. consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which certainly lead to a deterioration in potency;
  8. too little daily activity, leading to congestion and constipation;
  9. regular hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.

Clinical tests confirm that prostatitis often occurs due to poor nutrition, poor food quality, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.

Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology

Causes of a bacterial nature include several factors in the development of the disease:

  1. very weak immunity, which may be a consequence of a wrong lifestyle;
  2. genitourinary diseases of an infectious nature (bacteria move to the prostate from the bladder);
  3. venereal diseases.More often characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
  4. intestinal diseases.It is very easy for microorganisms to pass from the intestines to the prostate, passing "the past".

With age, the causes become more numerous, and the body's defense weakens, so the disease most often develops after 40-45 years.

The main symptoms of prostatitis in men

There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms are visible in the initial stage of the disease, and in the second they can no longer be ignored:

  • the process of urination is interrupted, it becomes more frequent, the pressure weakens and the droplet emptying syndrome is observed;
  • sharp pain begins to appear in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen;
  • sexual dysfunction develops and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.

Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:

  • an increase in temperature is possible due to a sharp development of inflammatory processes, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
  • the pain radiates to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
  • in the perineal area there is a burning sensation, swelling and increased temperature;
  • the perineum is painful or unpleasant to touch;
  • during urination, there is a burning sensation, pain, urine darkens, blood is even visible in it;
  • at a time when you do not want to go to the toilet, urine can flow from the urethra.

Similar symptoms, but with less severity, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.It is necessary to be examined regularly by a doctor after 40 years, as there is also an asymptomatic form of the pathology.

How to treat prostatitis of different forms?

There are a large number of methods for treating prostatitis, and not all of them involve major surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the more mild are used for its treatment.

Drug therapy

For the treatment of prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial form) are used, as well as alpha-blockers, natural substances to increase immunity and eliminate inflammation.Drugs that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many medicines, so there will always be those that are suitable for the individual characteristics of the body of a particular person.You cannot choose the medications yourself in a pharmacy;you should always rely on your doctor's prescription.

Surgical intervention

Radical methods of treatment are used extremely rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:

  • Transurethral resection - a special instrument is inserted into the urethra, which removes part of the prostate gland and eliminates pressure on the urethra.It is performed without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
  • prostatectomy is an operation through the abdominal cavity aimed at eliminating an enlarged prostate.

Non-surgical methods

Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the rehabilitation period after them lasts only a few days, maximum 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:

  • thermal methods - elimination using high temperatures;
  • ultrasound treatment;
  • cryodestruction - removal with liquid nitrogen;
  • laser therapy - laser tumor division;
  • magnetic method with laser amplification - the use of a magnet and laser to improve blood circulation and quickly restore damaged tissues;
  • Balloon dilatation of the urethra - a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.

Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are even such unusual methods of influence as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be quite effective!
